Volcano School students and families rallied to help with a citizen science initiative to collect data on coral bleaching. VSAS joined efforts with Greg Asner and his team from Arizona State University, The Center for Global Discovery and Conservation Science in partnership withDepartment of Land and Natural Resource’s Division of Aquatic Resources (DLNR DAR) and the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) to monitor the effects of the 2019 heat wave on coral bleaching between Kaʻū and Hilo.
