Governing Board of Directors

The Governing Board is the independent board of a public charter school that is party to the charter contract with the authorizer. Board members are representatives who act on behalf of VSAS stakeholders including students, founders, faculty, staff, the community, the government and taxpayers.  The Governing Board has the principal responsibility for the fulfillment of the VSAS mission, sound fiscal directives and operations and legal accountability and oversight.

Serving on the Governing Board

​

Contact board.chair@volcanoschool.net or attend a governing board meeting in person to learn more about serving on the board. 

 

To apply, provide a resume and a letter of interest including a brief description of yourself and talents you could contribute. Highlight items that relate to any of the special considerations below. 

​

  • Provide a diversity of perspective and level of objectivity accurately representing the interests of charter school students and the surrounding community

  • Demonstrate an understanding of best practices of nonprofit governance

  • Possess strong financial and academic management and oversight abilities

  • Have experience in human resources and fundraising matters

 

Board members are appointed by the current Governing Board.
