Friends of VSAS was awarded a $450,000 Grant-in-Aid from the state to get started on construction of the Pre-K – 4th grade classroom buildings at Keakealeani Campus. Although we still need to raise additional money, this grant will be able to fund initial site work and positions us well to pursue the additional funding that we need. VSAS would like to thank these legislators who each had an important role in approvingour request including Representative Richard Onishi, Senator Russell Ruderman, Senator Gilbert Keith-Agaran, Representative Nicole Lowen, Senator Kai Kahele, Representative Sylvia Luke. Most importantly, we would like to Mr. Richard Onishi for being our greatest champion and to both he and Senator Russell Ruderman for being long friends and supporters of the Volcano School. Local VSAS supporters, please join us in writing letters thanking these legislators as citizens in support of development of the Keakealani Campus for The Volcano School of Arts & Sciences. Letters can be addressed to the legislators at: Hawaii State Capitol, 415 S. Beretania Street, Honolulu, HI 96813. We truly appreciate their support for our school.
